About RVA Neuropsych
I am Dr. Meghan Geiss, PhD, LCP and I am a Clinical Neuropsychologist with over ten years of experience in the assessment and treatment of individuals with complex neurologic, neuropsychiatric, and psychiatric conditions. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Master of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University at Albany, State University of New York. In 2013, I completed my PhD in Counseling Psychology at the University of Memphis, following a predoctoral residency in Clinical Psychology with a focus on Neuropsychology at the VA North Florida/South Georgia Healthcare System. I then pursued a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in Rehabilitation Psychology with concentrated training in Neuropsychology at the Central Virginia VA Healthcare System, where I have served as a Neuropsychologist since 2015.
I adhere to the scientist–practitioner model, utilizing empirically validated measures within a flexible‑battery, hypothesis‑testing approach. My clinical expertise spans a broad range of neurologic and psychiatric presentations, with particular emphasis on acquired brain injury/TBI, dementia/major neurocognitive disorders, and complex psychological conditions.
I am passionate about empowering patients to optimize their cognitive and emotional well‑being across the lifespan. My goal is to help patients develop a clear understanding of the intricate relationship between brain function, behavior, and psychological processes. By fostering this knowledge, I aim to empower patients and their families to engage in well‑informed decision‑making that guides treatment planning and supports optimal cognitive and emotional well‑being.
I work with adults ages 18 and older, providing individualized assessment services designed to address a wide range of clinical needs. My practice includes comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations as well as psychological and diagnostic assessments, ensuring that each patient receives thorough, evidence‑based care tailored to their unique presentation.
